Monoamine oxidase inhibitor drugs should be discontinued for at least one week prior to sampling since they tend to increase the level of serotonin. Max specimen time between blood draw and lab anlaysis is 24 hours.Test Type: BloodTest Results: 1-2 daysElevations in fibrinogen, ?- and ?-globulins (acute phase reactants), and immunoglobulins increase the sedimentation rate of red cells through plasma. The test is important in the diagnosis of temporal arteritis, as well as its management.1
