  • Progesterone (Pg)
  • Testosterone (T)
  • DHEA-S (DS)
  • Cortisol 4x a day (Cx4)

Description

This convenient saliva profile is offered to evaluate sex and adrenal hormone levels. This panel tests waking levels of estradiol, progesterone, testosterone, and DHEA-S, as well as diurnal cortisol at four-time points throughout the day (morning, noon, evening, night).  This 5 in 1 comprehensive saliva panel is ideal for both men and women to help identify possible imbalances in sex and adrenal hormones that may be associated with a medical condition or other dysfunction within the body. The test may also be used to assess and monitor hormone levels for treatment responses.

Consider for Women: Baseline levels before hormone replacement therapy, amenorrhea, PMS, dysfunctional uterine bleeding (DUB), estrogen dominance symptoms, hypogonadism, sexual dysfunction, osteoporosis, fibrocystic breast disease, infertility screening, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) screening, anovulation, menopausal symptoms, screening for adrenal fatigue. Ideal for monitoring HRT dosing.

Consider for Men: Monitor for estrogen dominance, hypogonadism, andropause, fatigue, low libido, erectile dysfunction, infertility, osteoporosis screening, and adrenal dysfunction.

Biomarkers Measured

Estradiol (E2)

Estradiol is the primary estrogen sex hormone in women, responsible for menstrual cycle regulation and the development of secondary sexual characteristics.

Progesterone (Pg)

Progesterone is one of the two major female sex hormones important for reproductive health.

Testosterone (T)

Produced primarily in the testes of males, and in the ovaries of females, testosterone regulates many functions within the body.

DHEA-S (DS)

Dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) is produced by adrenal glands and converted to dehydroepiandrosterone sulfate (DHEA-S).  DHEA is a precursor for sex hormones, estrogen and testosterone, as well as insulin growth factor.

Cortisol (Morning)

Cortisol (Morning) tests levels of the “stress” hormone that helps the brain and body respond to the environment, facilitates metabolism, regulates blood pressure and supports the body’s fight against infection.  Cortisol levels are highest upon wakening.

Cortisol (Afternoon)

Cortisol (Afternoon) measures hormone levels as cortisol naturally begins to dip later in the day.  Lower levels at this time may be the reason for the afternoon “crash” many experience.

Cortisol (Evening)

Cortisol (Evening) reflects cortisol levels as the body starts to wind down for the day following normal diurnal rhythms.  Elevated levels at this time can cause intense sugar cravings, fatigue and irritability.

Cortisol (Night)

Cortisol (Night) tests hormone levels just before bedtime as the body prepares for sleep.  High levels of cortisol in the bloodstream can contribute to insomnia or difficulty staying asleep which suppresses the immune system.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

Ask a Question
  • I'm taking the female Saliva Profile I test. Does this test just require the one (large) vial to be filled upon waking?

The Saliva Profile I only requires the 1 large vial. The optimal hormone health comprehensive requires all 4 since that test also covers diurnal cortisol.

  • After collecting saliva where do we store it if we still have additional samples to collect?

Freeze any samples not being shipped within 24 hours. Samples will be stable during shipping.
